Dear Acero Colleagues,
It is with great excitement that I announce Eleanor McCree as the principal of Officer Major Hector P. García High School!
Ms. McCree has been a member of the García community for the past seven years, first serving as a Civil Engineering and Architecture teacher, followed by taking on the role of an instructional coach and most recently as the interim principal. Ms. McCree even had the honor of being named Teacher of the Year for García in 2016!
Eleanor has an impressive pedigree which includes a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), a Master of Science in Biochemical Sciences from Roosevelt University and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Xavier University. She most recently completed her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.
“I love being a school leader because I am able to impact the lives of over 600 students daily while collaborating with staff and families in the process. I am grateful to be able to see my students grow and mature into tomorrow's leaders.” She said of becoming the García Principal, “The García community has always been home to me and I look forward to collaborating with the other leaders in the Acero network to continue creating the next generation of lifelong learners (discerner and doers).”
García High School has already felt the positive impact of Ms. McCree’s passion and dedication to her scholars and will continue to excel under her leadership.

Estimados colegas de Acero,
¡Es con gran emoción anunciar a Eleanor McCree como la directora de la secundaria, Oficial Mayor Héctor P. García!
La Sra. McCree ha sido miembro de la comunidad de García durante los últimos siete años, primero sirviendo como maestra de ingeniería civil y arquitectura, luego asumiendo el papel de entrenadora de instrucción y más recientemente como directora interina. ¡La Sra. McCree incluso tuvo el honor de ser nombrada Maestra del Año por García en el 2016!
Eleanor tiene un pedigrí impresionante que incluye una Licenciatura en Psicología de la Universidad de Illinois Chicago (UIC), una Maestría en Ciencias Bioquímicas de la Universidad Roosevelt y una Maestría en Currículo e Instrucción de la Universidad St. Xavier.
Recientemente completó su título de Especialista Educativa en Liderazgo Educativo de la Universidad Nacional Louis.
“Me encanta ser una líder escolar, porque puedo impactar las vidas de más de 600 estudiantes diariamente, mientras en el proceso colaboró con el personal y las familias. Estoy agradecida de poder ver a mis estudiantes crecer y madurar, para convertirse en los líderes del mañana”. Ella dice sobre convertirse en directora de García: “La comunidad García siempre ha sido mi hogar y espero colaborar con los otros líderes de la red Acero, para continuar creando la próxima generación de aprendices de por vida (discernientes y practicantes de por vida)”.
La secundaria García ya ha sentido el impacto positivo de la pasión y dedicación de la
Sra. McCree a sus alumnos, y continuará sobresaliendo bajo su liderazgo.
